Cowboy - Rockstar - Socialist
Dean Reed - "the Red Elvis" - is one of the most mysterious legends of global pop culture in the period of the Cold War.
Friend of Salvador Allende and Yasser Arafat, he supported the struggles for freedom in Chile and Lebanon, acted in spaghetti westerns in Italy, toured as the first US-American Singer in the Soviet Union, was a womanizer and TV-Star in the former GDR. There he lived until 1986, when he was found dead in a lake near East Berlin.
We composed and produced the film score for this documentary: a rough mixture of guitar sounds and electronic elements, sometimes using samples of Dean's vocals, sometimes using our own, or simply remaining purely instrumental.
